
Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all hotel equipment, facilities, and structures remain in excellent working condition. The role includes routine inspections, diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and reducing downtime through efficient maintenance practices.
This includes work on plumbing, electrical systems, refrigeration, HVAC units, and general building upkeep (carpentry, painting, plastering). The role requires strong technical skills, solid organisation, and excellent communication—particularly when interacting with guests and addressing their concerns.
Success in this role requires independence, attention to detail, and staying up to date with industry standards and maintenance technology.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Maintenance
- Conduct daily maintenance and ensure minimal downtime across the lodge and camps.
- Complete maintenance work orders in line with SOPs.
- Improve maintenance service delivery for guests and internal departments.
- Maintain professional appearance, confidentiality, and protection of company assets.
- Ensure a safe environment for guests, staff, suppliers, and the surrounding community.
2. Guest Interaction
- Respond to and complete guest repair requests promptly.
- Acknowledge guests professionally and uphold hotel service standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information and ensure security of guest areas.
3. Technical & Operational Tasks
- Operate and maintain electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, boiler, and HVAC systems.
- Review daily maintenance requests and update job cards on completion.
- Interpret readings from meters, gauges, and technical equipment.
- Prioritize and organize work effectively, exercising sound judgment under pressure.
- Perform repairs in guest rooms and public areas (e.g., drains, toilets, hardware, AC units, cosmetic repairs).
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain tools and equipment.
- Diagnose problems independently and implement high-quality solutions.
- Attend to maintenance emergencies to protect guests, staff, and property.
- Manage inventory and request parts as needed.
- Maintain lodge facilities and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Train and support team members through skills sharing.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Camp Manager.
4. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with lodge and camp teams to ensure seamless maintenance coordination.
- Resolve issues promptly to support smooth lodge operations.
Goal of the Role
To carry out all maintenance and repair work efficiently and effectively—diagnosing issues in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems while managing general upkeep tasks such as painting, cleaning, and landscaping. The goal is to maintain a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for guests and staff.

Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in hospitality or lodge environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic maintenance knowledge essential.
- Technical understanding in plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, refrigeration/air-conditioning, mechanical and electrical systems (advantageous).
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and remain composed during high-activity periods.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
